Montezuma or "where is this damn waterfall, hübi?"

We took one day off surfing and rented some quads to head along the coastline to Mal Pais and through the forest to Muntezuma for seightseeing and a beautiful waterfall, we have been told. The surf was shit anyway so it was an easy call. We left at about 9.30 with the sun already burning. It supposed to be a nice day.

After we missed the acress to the gravel road or path through the forest we had to ask and let some anoying Israelis pass by, who seemed to be more interested in testing their vehicles. The ways were pretty steep and slippery at times. It was a challenge to take us safe across the hills. Frank and Isa were not keen to drive this road, so Sandra and I were looking forward. Muhaha.

Once we made it through the forest with some nice views over hills, farms and the southern coastline we went straight to Montezuma. Hunger appeared and Isa was about to order a disappointing (non) Thai Chicken. Luckily I choose the Chicken Fajita and we were chilling in this small village filled with layed back locals and Hippie-tourists. Everybody seemed to be stoned and we decided to go to the waterfalls which Hübi recomended. But finding them was tricky. We passed by the entrance about 3 times by bike before finding it. By then a thick dark cloud appeared and as we walked down the track it seemed to end in a copse -  nowhere this is the right track. Sandra and I heading back to ask somebody and the rest made its way down the already slippery and steep track while it startet to rain.

Yes it was the right path and already wet and losing the thirst to get there, we decided to give it a try once we were here. Sandra broke both Sandals and some postcards which are supposed to be send later that day didnt make it through the rough weather. Once we were down at the waterfalls we saw an ugly brown ripping river transporting trunks of trees. In no way we can sit there easily in the little lakes and relaxe in the sun, like Hübi was telling us earlier.

Back on track and on our motorbikes it was all of a sudden really freezing. Of cause we were soaking wet and the wind was chilly. As soon as the sun came back out after 2 hours we ate some icecream and tried o dry our shirts to go on to Cobano. We didnt really succeded, but Frank and I could drive half naked anyway. We passed busy Cobano without beeing recognized by several cops. We didnt wear the helmets, but risked a fine. The soaking wet and strange smelling helmets wouldnt be used in no way.

Finally we wanted to eat at "Brisas del Mar" a beautiful restaurant on top of a hill in Playa Carmen, but it was not open. So we enjoyed the view and went for the most tastfull Empanadas ever baked. Including a dessert of "Bombolonis" an italien gastronomic specialitiy such as Berliner, but filled with Nutella or vanilla cream. Yammy.  What a day :)
