Capbreton with my mates
Hello there,
it's been a while since the October surf holiday is finished, but I finally find the time to write a few words about it. Surfwise nothing really special. Actually a bit dissapointing, because the swell was either a bit tooo big for the beachbreak or you have to time the tide right to actually to make the wave work. The only spot that was always working was the spot right infront of our house: la Piste.
The spot though is beautiful. Old Nazi-Bunker who were onc up on the sand dundes are now right in shorebreak upside down and rolled over. Sprayed with grafittis and a constant reminder of the fragile peace we have for so many decades the bunkers are like a monument and always visible.
Matthias and his family lived a few minutes away and Andre with his family lived just three houses away. So it was like a big group to hang out with and go surfing together. It's been a while that all three of us were surfing together and despite the very different levels of surfing we managed to surf a few sessions together. That was a lot of fun, especially for me since I have been surfing on my own on almost all of my surf trips.
We all went to the Quiksilver Pro France for the final day and it was an awesome experience with so many people at the beach and all of the best surfers in the world in the water. We enjoyed the sun, the merchandise and a very exciting semi final and final.
The weather was changing so rapidly that even in a day we had sunny 28° and stormy rain with 15° a bit later that same day. But since Anne and Alma came along on the trip we needed to have a walk on the beach with Alma anyway. So we didn't mind the change once in a while. Altogether it was a very relaxing holiday that I was looking forward to since Morocco in 2016.
